It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
