In a surprising crossover event that challenges traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Uncovered

According to the authorized statement, "A strange encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of prohibited rituals and fearsome transformations echo through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine group.

The adventure focuses on "strange tests and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an unique katana together with numerous artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Content

This release also brings the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
